What Is an All-On-4 Implant Bridge?
An All-On-4 implant bridge uses just four dental implants to anchor a restoration that replaces all the teeth on either the top or bottom of your mouth, called an arch. In the past, it took six or eight implants to replace an arch of teeth. This made the procedure difficult and time-consuming: sometimes it was broken up across multiple days. It was also quite expensive.
All-On-4 can use fewer implants because they are put in scientifically-determined places that maximize the volume and density of bone supporting the bridge. This makes the procedure faster, easier, and less expensive. Even if you’ve lost bone in your jaw, you can probably get the procedure without needing a bone graft. This saves you even more time and more money!
All-On-4 Procedure Overview
You can get All-On-4 whether you have lost all your teeth or if you still have some remaining teeth. If you have remaining teeth, the first step is to remove them. Then we will place the four dental implants.
Most people then get a provisional restoration immediately. This means that you leave with teeth from the first procedure. This provisional restoration is functional: you can bite and chew with it, though it might be a little tender at first.
After a few months to allow the implants to fuse with your bone, it will be time for your long-term restoration. At this point, you can choose whether you want to have a removable or permanently attached restoration. In addition, you can decide if you want a ceramic or an acrylic restoration.
The All-On-4 procedure has become immensely popular since its introduction. That’s because it offers so many great benefits. People choose All-On-4 because:
- It replaces all your teeth in just one day
- Replacements look and function like natural teeth
- Firmly placed: bridge doesn’t slide
- You can choose a removable or fixed bridge
- No need for bone graft
- Long-lasting results
With some dental implant treatments, you have multiple procedures spread out over days or months, but with All-On-4, almost everyone gets the procedure done in one day. The replacements look natural, w
